Widget not showing
Updated · SMART Subscriptions (E-TRADE PARTNER)
If the SMART Subscriptions widget is not showing, confirm the Subscriptions Widget block is on the live product template, the product or variant is assigned in Plans, and you are previewing the published theme. There is no separate Widget on/off switch.
SMART Subscriptions does this with plans, a product-page widget, and a native customer portal.
Try it freeA missing widget usually means the storefront never received the app block, or the product has no selling plan assignment. Visibility is block + assignment + published theme. Fix those before you change colors or rewrite labels.
Fast checklist
- Open the published theme (not only a draft preview) and confirm the Subscriptions Widget app block is on the product template customers use.
- In Plans, confirm the product or variant is in a SMART plan. A saved plan is live; there is no draft or active status.
- Hard-refresh the live product URL, or open it in an incognito window.
- If you switched themes, re-add the block on the new published product template.
- In the theme editor, the block shows a notice when the product has no subscription plan yet. Customers never see that notice.
- The widget shows only SMART plans, not selling plans from another app.
Common symptoms
| Symptom | Likely cause | Where to fix |
|---|---|---|
| No widget on the live product page | Block missing on the published template | Theme editor → product template |
| Widget in theme editor only | Editing an unpublished theme | Publish the theme that contains the block |
| Missing on one product | Product or variant not assigned | Plans |
| Block present, still nothing | Wrong template, draft theme, or no plan assignment | Retest published URL + Plans |
| Wrong preview looks fine | Draft theme or alternate template | Retest the public product URL |
Published theme vs draft preview
The theme editor can look correct on a draft while customers still see the live theme without the block. Always confirm the Subscriptions Widget is on the published product template.
After the widget appears, place a test checkout with a selling plan selected and confirm the contract under Subscriptions. For a full test path, see Test your setup.

›Why is the SMART subscription widget not showing?
Most often the app block is missing from the live product template, the product is not assigned in Plans, or you are previewing the wrong theme. There is no Widget enable toggle in the app.
›Do I need code to show the widget?
No for standard Online Store 2.0 themes. Add the Subscriptions Widget theme app block, save, and publish.
›The widget shows in the editor but not live. Why?
You are likely editing an unpublished theme, or a different product template than the live product uses.
›Can one product hide the widget while others show it?
Yes. Products or variants that are not assigned in Plans will not show that plan's purchase options even when the app block is present.
