Subscription management
Updated · SMART Subscriptions (E-TRADE PARTNER)
Under Management in SMART Subscriptions, activate the Subscription management page in the new Shopify customer accounts, plus the optional Thank you page card and Order action button. In the portal, customers can pause, resume, skip or unskip orders, cancel, switch to another saved payment method, and edit shipping or pickup details.
SMART Subscriptions does this with plans, a product-page widget, and a native customer portal.

Self-service reduces tickets for routine lifecycle changes. Customers manage subscriptions inside Shopify customer accounts (new customer accounts), not through a separate third-party login or magic link.

Setup checklist
- Confirm Shopify new customer accounts are enabled for your store.
- Open Management in SMART Subscriptions.
- Click Activate on Subscription management page, then add the Management page block in Shopify's checkout and accounts editor. Without this page, portal self-service is unavailable. Add the page to your store's navigation menu.
- Optional: activate the Thank you page card and Order action button the same way.
- Place a test subscription with a customer account.
- Sign in as that customer and confirm pause, resume, skip, cancel, payment method, and address actions. If the plan has a minimum number of payments, cancel stays blocked until it is reached.
Portal does not include product or plan swap
Customer self-serve covers pause, resume, skip or unskip, cancel, switching to a saved payment method, and shipping or pickup updates, in 33 languages. Merchants handle deeper contract work under Subscriptions. See Manage subscription contracts.
